Well, it’s been one hell of a month. What’s so special about this month you ask? The clue is in the title; CROSSFIT!
It’s been just over a month since I did my very first CrossFit session down at the Colne valley box.
I’d like to just remind you before you read the rest of this post that I was less than pleased about my friend dragging me along at 6am on a Friday morning to do exercise. Here is the snapchat I took in the car on the way.
Safe to say that is not how I feel about CrossFit anymore.
I absolutely love it. I love pushing myself and setting myself targets and doing things I genuinely think I cant do. 70kg deadlift? A month ago I’d have said not a chance! But now I’m saying bring it on!
I think the biggest plot twist of all is the fact I’ve managed to be up, washed, dressed and spilling Through the box door for 6am three times a week. I’m definitely still not a morning person though…
Crossfit has changed my whole attitude to exercising and working out and about 99% of that is down to my coaches, Katy and Jack.
I honestly don’t have the words to describe how much respect I have for them and how thankful I am for them pushing me so hard. (Though I did tell Katy I wasn’t her friend during a tough workout the last week 😂Sorry Katy! I didn’t mean it I promise!) I thanked her for pushing me to get it done in the time limit afterwards though, when I could breathe again…
Katy and Jack make the box a friendly, safe and non judgemental place to make yourself better than you were yesterday. And they genuinely want to see you improving. It’s refreshing and a massive confidence boost to have someone other than like, your mum telling you you’re capable of something you think you can’t do.
Since starting CrossFit I’ve lost three kilos of weight that’s 6.61lbs and while you can’t really physically see the different yet, I’m striding in the right way. All thanks to Colne Valley CrossFit.
The next step to my fitness journey is eating properly. I’ve been doing meal prep this week and I’ve primarily been eating oven baked chicken, broccoli, carrots and vegetable rice. I’ve been having small portions, and most importantly not snacking on things like biscuits and crisps during the day.
What I’ve eaten probably doesn’t sound very appealing to you but honestly it’s been lovely, and I haven’t really wanted to indulge in unhealthy treats either which has made is a lot easier.
Well, until yesterday when I had a cookie and went out for curry and four drinks, but it was well deserved after the 6am workout! And besides it was Box night out so lots of the members were there!
It was great fun and really nice getting to know other people who are regulars at the box but go to different session times and days. (Shoutout to Elliot, I know you’re reading this 😉😂)
I think maybe now that I know people from other classes I’ll go on different days and mingle a bit.
